Mursik, thick curdled milk, is a popular Kalenjin
treat. It is prepared by the Kalenjin women who preserve the mursik in
gourds known as sotet. It is served mainly for athletes as a welcome drink as
it is a traditional energy drink.
INGREDIENTS
- Milk
- Acacia
Leaves
- Charcoal
- Animal
blood
This popular fermented Kenyan delicacy costs in between
10-50 per glass Kenyan Shillings depending on where you buy it from.
According to my group's criticism this drink tastes sour
though the health benefits are very satisfying, in a recent survey that
revealed 80% Africans are lactose intolerant it was advised that mursik
was an easily digestible drink and should hence be taken regularly by them.
